New shelter for Bushey’s Moatfield
On Tuesday (28 July), Hertsmere Borough Council will hold a meeting with local residents at Bushey’s Moatfield park to discuss ideas for a new “sculptural structure” for the area.
The council is working alongside environment organisation Green Heart Partnership and design consultancy Superblue to establish an “innovative, eye-catching, sculptural structure”, at the park, and is keen to get feedback from local park users.
Councillor Brenda Batten, leisure, culture and health, portfolio holder, said: "This is a really exciting project that will bring something different to the Moatfield.
"The vision is to create a small sheltered meeting space for the whole community to make use of and enjoy so we need people to tell us what they want."
Superblue is to lead the consultation on the day and use temporary huts to encourage people to explore what the term 'shelter' means to them, to think about the kinds of materials, textures and colours that would best suit the environment and to talk about the kinds of ways in which they might use the shelter, whether it would be to rest, sit, meet friends, eat or talk.
The project is being funded by the Big Lottery with a contribution from Hertsmere Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and the shelter will be installed by January 2010.
