Watford trio combine for 2010 production
Watford Palace Theatre, Watford FC and Watford Museum are looking for people to join its team of researchers and participate in a brand new community football musical project, planned for 2010, Hello, Mister Capello.
The joint partnership is on the hunt for people to come forward with stories of footballing successes and failures, which will then be used by writer Nick Stimson to create the new play.
The play is expected to combine football action, drama, and existing songs with original music.
James Williams, the director on the project, says: ‘We’re looking for participants of all ages (from 14 years) and backgrounds who share a passion for football, theatre or history, or all of the above.
“We want the group to record the stories, hopes, dreams, failures and heartbreaks of footballers past, present and would-be. We also need material from friends, families and supporters, in fact anyone who finds their life (for good or bad) revolving around football.”
In the past, Stimson has written plays, musicals and poetry and is associate director at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth. He is also currently delivering a writing project with Barnsley FC and Plymouth Argyle FC on behalf of the Arvon Foundation.
Research workshops will take place on the following dates: Friday 16 October 7 to 9pm (Watford Palace Theatre), Monday 26 October 7 to 9pm (Watford Museum),
Monday 30 November 7 to 9pm (Watford Palace Theatre).
Readers can get more information on the project on 01923 810307 or by emailing capello@watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk. The closing date for expressions of interest is Tuesday 13 October.
