Seven new sweeper machines, specifically designed for pavement, shopping precinct and subway sweeping, have been added to the Watford Council street cleaning fleet in an effort to help keep the local roads clean and safe.
The move follows a recent Place Survey, where according to the council, Watford Borough Council came in the top quarter of councils with regard to keeping the local area clean and green.
Also, in the council’s annual Community Survey of over 1,000 residents, local people reported that keeping the streets of Watford clean is a top priority for them.
Councillor Derek Scudder said: “The council’s street cleaning team are dedicated to improving the environment for local residents. The street cleansing service works seven days a week and cleaned over 1,600 tonnes of litter from our streets last year.  Every resident and visitor to Watford can help us to keep Watford clean and green by putting their litter in a bin.”
